Pixel did binkies for the first time in 3-4 weeks, and even managed his first.... then second.... then third bunny 500.
Trust issues still abound, but at least he's happy to let loose with me in the room. :)
Here's a few pics of him watching tv with Dad.

EDIT: Oh! I forgot to mention his bunnitude! After the last pic was taken, Pixel tripped and slid behind the hub, who put his arm around him. Pixel took offense, and bit him in the armpit! I about died laughing!!!

More scans
Dec. 1st, 2009 01:00 amHad an MRI and a more detailed CT scan in preparation of a biopsy. Hopefully I'll have more information on Friday.
Other than that, Thanksbacon '09 was a smashing success. Only 4 of the 13 that RSVP'ed showed up, but they brought a few friends to crash the party, who in turn brought bacony dishes! It was great.
Can't wait for Thanksbacon next year.

Headaches, Soldering, and SWAT teams
Nov. 19th, 2009 10:10 pmSo I found out that my insurance which I just recently got was changing, and if I didn't want a $750 deductible, I should get a CT scan done of my sinuses ASAP. Trying to finally figure out what is causing all these debilitating headaches...
Started working on Christmas presents. Finished soldering a new christmas tree for my mom which has tons of LEDs that flash in patterns. Pretty boss.
Also got the hub's xmas present in the mail, but I can't talk about it here!
Ordering another electronics kit to put together for my stepdad, a personal amplifier to plug headphones in for a guitar.
And last but DEFINITELY not least...
Got surprised today around 6pm with a SWAT team swarming over our building at work, locking us down. Apparently a chop shop has been running in the building next to ours, and the police decided to serve a warrant. Flashbangs, teargas, and multiple warnings over a megaphone.
After about 3 hours, our CEO managed to convince the police to let us go home.
Here's info on it:

Pixel's eyes
Sep. 29th, 2009 06:28 pmWe got him into an ophthalmologist today to check his eyes. Unfortunately he has E. Cuniculi, a parasite that infects rabbits while still in the womb. Luckily we were able to catch it before it spread to his brain and nervous system.
Bad news is his left eye is completely blind, and there's a 70% chance that he will lose the sight in his right eye. There's already a small lesion, so we are keeping him on anti-inflammatories to help with pain, and meds to get rid of the parasite.
We're looking on the bright side of all of this: when we get a new home this coming spring (hopefully a rental house), we're planning on getting him a sighted girlfriend so that he can feel more secure with a close friend.

But it is a change.
Pixel's iris that's "stuck" with the cloudiness isn't any less cloudy, but the iris is no longer round. It looks like some parts have let go and are trying to expand, which is a good sign.
I'll be calling the vet tomorrow morning to aks him what this means.
Hopefully that means no eye surgery for my bun-bun.
And for picture's sake, here's a pic of him glaring at us after treatment through his good eye. He sulks in his cardboard cave quite a lot.

I really wish I could post happy things here about Pixel.
After another visit to the e-vet, he started eating on his own again a week ago. Last night, my husband saw that his left eye was clouding up. This morning, the iris is all cloudy and his right eye has eye-gunk and hair stuck to the eyeball and it's all wet.
I run him to the vet on an extended "3 hour lunch", only to have them refer me to an eye specialist.
My husband is now freaking out because it seems like we're going down the same road we were with our Duchess Lydia.
If you can, just keep him in your thoughts. He's still under 6 months old, and is going through quite a bit. Even if he turns out blind, as long as he isn't in pain, I will be happy.
Has anyone else ever had to deal with something like this?

I've decided this year to do a charity present for everyone this year. I've really wanted to learn how to make stuffed animals (among the plethora of other things I want to learn).
I found a pattern for a wee bunny that is less than 1 foot tall, but so incredibly cute. The plan is to make one for every niece and nephew, and then 4 more for each to donate to Seattle Children's Hospital in their name.
I thought this was an awesome idea until I sat down and realized I'll be making over 30 stuffed animals!
Last night I got around to making the first one, just to make sure that I won't have any hang-ups on sewing or stuffing. He turned out really nice and it wasn't as hard as I was expecting.
Here's my first bunny. Jake has named him Binky.
( Peekaboo! )

Aug. 22nd, 2009 12:23 amOrientation was pretty bad-ass. Well... boring, but the information provided within is amazing. I may be able to finally get a MRI to find out what's causing my severe sinus migraine thingies for only $20 copay. That is effing amazing.
Job is really cool too. Everyone is incredibly laid back and you are instantly a friend with everyone there. It has to be this way because 70%+ of the people here have a disability. And before you ask, yes, I qualify as one because of my anxiety.
Other than that, my job will be to inspect chromium paint jobs on aircraft parts. Not the most exciting, but I'll also receive in-depth training on blueprints (which I didn't get in school), specializing in Boeing's procedures.
And yeah, the benefits are just effing amazing. As long as I don't find out on my first real day at work that it's all a sham, I might just stick around here for a while (e.g. quite a few years).
Oh, and I'll be working in Ballard, in north Seattle, so not a terrible commute, either. Just 12-15 minutes.
ok.. nini time for Zanth. Seattle Gift Show starts tomorrow. I'm meeting up with my mom to find products for her salon, and square scarves for wrapping christmas presents furoshiki style.

Apparently I am no longer Andrea. I am now Estela Garcia living in Kennewick, WA.
Gotta love identity theft. (blargh)
EDIT: Checked my credit and it has not been touched. My guess is now that there's an illegal immigrant using my identity to get a job.
Too bad she's going to get arrested wherever she is now.

Not exactly what I want to be doing, and not exactly the pay I want, but it's better than anything else I've been offered.
Orientation is tomorrow, and once my contract is done I'll be doing paint inspection for aerospace parts.
Glad I have something to move onto. Sad thing is, I'll actually be making more money at my new job with less pay per hour than my current one.

Aug. 19th, 2009 09:46 pmI have an interview tomorrow morning at 9 PST.
Finally stopped staying status quo and have started to lose weight. Albeit like .5 pounds a week, but it is happening. Going to see what I can do to accelerate this momentum. Friend suggested celery and turkey sandwiches. Turkey I can do... but celery just gets to me.
Going to give it a week, to see if I can get over the taste. My goal is to drop down to 220 by next spring. That way I'm low enough weight to ride an electric bike. And yes, I will only use it in "pedal assist" mode while going up hills.
I'm getting tired of breaking out in a sweat just walking through a mall. Tired of being 300 lbs. Tired of having and extra half of me to drag around everywhere.
I'm down to 296 right now. Let's do this.

no-sew quilt in a weekend!
Aug. 5th, 2009 12:40 amThe past week up here in the Northwest has been HELL... Literally. It all came to a head on Wednesday when we hit an all-time high of 104. Not much to some of you, but NO ONE has ac here.
The really bad part is that I can't stand sleeping without something that has more weight than a sheet over me. So it's either not sleep, or sweat like crazy.
I had a bunch of shirts that I was wondering what to do with, so I decided to make a tied quilt that had double layers of shirts to provide weight, but no batting so that it stays cool.
I am pleasantly surprised at the results, and absolutely torked because the husband liked it too, and now I have to make a second one.
( Onward! )

Jul. 25th, 2009 09:53 pmJust want to share how thankful I am for NyQuil.
Looking to get a new car, but can't find anything that I can fit in without banging my knees or hitting my head. Quite frustrating.
Need to find something so that we can get rid of my car before it goes kaput.... again.
Oh, and being sick during the summer sucks.

Pixel is a champ!
Jul. 22nd, 2009 06:42 pmAs soon as we got him home yesterday, he was very woosy and not wanting to do much. This morning he was exstatic when I put food into his bowl and munched away. He hasn't really messed with his incision area, and is back to mostly playing around with his toys and cardboard cave.
Here's a pic of him looking a bit scruffy, but happy:

Pixel is a "new man"
Jul. 21st, 2009 05:18 pmPixel is home after getting neutered this morning, although very groggy. He was a "model patient" at the vets. I instantly trusted the vet when I was told he had spayed a hamster before, so he must have pretty steady hands!
Pixel is in his cage, I'm not allowing him to hop in and out for the first day. He started eating a bit at the vets, and is now eating at home, when he doesn't fall in his dish.
I was so touched that he got excited when he saw me at the vet's office. He even licked my hand for the first time while I was closing the door to his cage! I think we're going to have a totally different bun!
He's grown quite a bit since I last posted pictures, I won't bug him today or tomorrow, but by the weekend I should have some new pics. :)
